The Echo Bay area provides residents and visitors with an environment
which is exceptional for recreational activities throughout all
seasons. During the winter months, residents and tourists take full
advantage of the variety of cold weather activities available to them.
For the children, the Echo Bay Community Sportsplex is home to many
hours of fun during free public skates and organized skating programs.
The Sportsplex is also the
sight of the Winter Carnival. It is also available for
recreational hockey and group rentals. In addition, this area boasts
great cross country skiing trails and ample space for the snowshoe
enthusiast. The Sportsplex is a staging area for access to the
many snowmachine trails and a place to load/unload and leave you
vehicles, while having a fun ride.
| Snowmobiling is
popular in this area and there are many groomed and
non-groomed trails accessible to the snowmobiler.
Groomed trails in this area hook up with the Algoma Snow
Plan which extends from Garden River to Thessalon. To
ride the groomed trails, one can purchase a Trail
Permit at one of our local gas stations. For the avid snow machine driver, the Echo Bay
Snow Falcon Snowmobile Club is always accepting members.
For more information on the Snow Falcons, see the Clubs page. |

In the summer, there are many activities and facilities available
to residents and visitors. Ball fields located at the Elk's Park
and Recreation Centre play host to local mixed and children's
soft-ball leagues. For the tennis enthusiast, Hurley Park's
municipal tennis courts are open to the public as well as
providing a children's play area. There is one tennis court and an open area with basketball nets for use. There is also a children's play
ground found at the Recreation Centre featuring our newly purchased play apparatus. Lastly, the fifty-one miles
of municipal roads and diverse landscape provides a challenge to
hiking and biking participants.

In addition to the above, the township's water bodies
add to the number of activities. In the winter,
ice-fishing becomes a popular sport, and during the
summer, swimming, boating, water-skiing, sailing, and
fishing occupy the time of area residents and visitors.
Lastly, another popular activity is camping. Camping is
available on most lakes, however, there are some spots
where over-night camping is restricted. To inquire about
camping, call the Municipal Office at (705)
248-2441.
Further recreational activities sometimes organized
within the community include yoga, Crafty Creators, walking groups, Fitness for All, etc.
