Sept. 17, 2007 –Report
Councillor Mason reported that overtime is up a little because of a rash of car break in this summer and that investigation. Overall annual averages very close to the same. WE requested more visibility on the cottage roads to control the speeding. Our Contract it up and negotiations have begun.
g) Algoma District Services Administration Board
Next meeting Sept. 17 in Hornpayne.
h) Algoma District Municipal Association
Councillor Orchard cannot attend. Councillor Mason will go in his place. Mayor Watson and Councillor Robbins also attending.
i) Landfill/Recycling
-Computer Monitors at Landfill-Clean North
Councillor Robbins brought all the monitors etc to Clean North at no charge. Need to discuss if we are going to continue accepting these at the share shed.
-Request from Ray’s Contracting to dispose of Contaminated Soil

Councillor Orchard reported that it was a good meeting. Presented an agreement that the City of Elliot Lake has entered into with the Serpent River First Nation. May be helpful for us and Garden River. Still looking for a Secretary. The next meeting is October 4, location to be announced.

Councillor Robbins attend the Sept. 17 St. Joseph Island Community Policing meeting and reported that they have a very active committee that operates totally independent of any Council’s. They have been in existence since 1993 and continues to have events, fundraisers and information sessions for their communities.
Councillor Robbins requested approval to have a labourer for 40 hours to finish off jobs that were left undone or need to be completed this fall: power wash bricks at Loon Dollar Monument Park, weed killer and pull old flowers, remove shrubs at Environment Centre, Boardwalk needs a board replace on rub rail, add more screws where needed, Labrynth-virginia creeper needs to be planted, Carpet Bed-pull weeds, Tim & Temp- install edging & load of dolomite, flower bed at tennis court, base for grader at Environment Center and flower bed at Dinelle’s.
Councillor Bailey suggested we need to keep moving on the renovations at the Sportsplex. Will discuss with LSC booking another Sportsplex Meeting.
