-Farm Tractor Update-Repairs
Side window and windshield have been repaired.
A screen has been constructed for the side door window to prevent any rocks from breaking it again.

-Hwy 17 4-lane Project Update
A meeting has been scheduled for Monday August 27 at 10:00 a.m. with MTO and Garden River in Garden River to discuss the naming of the existing Hwy 17 once the new 4-lane opens. All of Council to attend.
-Ministry of Transportation Letter-RE: Bridge Inspection
With the collapse of the bridge in Minnesota over the Mississippi River MTO is requesting that municipalities make sure that bridge inspections are up to date
-Roberts Bridge-see below
-Speed Limit Signs-McCarrel Lake Road
Request by cottagers to post McCarrel Lake Road at a reduced speed.
Clerk to contact PSB and Staff Sgt Moore to request more surveillance. Dead End signs to be installed on McCarrel Lake Rd and Lonely Lake Rd.
-Morgan’s Driveway-Cloudy Lake Road
Clerk to provide map and location for next meeting
-Headrick Ditch-MTO Petition Drain Request

Light at foot of Old Findlay Hill Road should be relocated. Clerk to get a quote.
-Township of Laird Request-Cloudy Lake Road
Received a request from Laird to maintain their portion of Cloudy Lake Road in trade for Bar River Road. This needs to be discussed fully. Clerk to contact Twp. of Laird to discuss further.
-MTO Letter- Intersection of Hwy 638/Findlay Hill Rd. Pioneer Rd.
Map forwarded to confirm where the stop signs will be located. One on Hwy 638 one on Pioneer Rd and Findlay Hill Road will be a through fare.
-Certificate of Approval-Bell poles on Watson Road

-Maple Leaf Road West-Please Slow Down Signs
Request to post this due to speeders.
-Dead Trees at Bar River Bridge, Maple Leaf Road etc. look at hiring someone for a day to take down all dead trees
Trees have already been removed.
b) Leisure Services Coordinator
-Playground Equipment Update
Equipment was installed on Aug 1 and there have been positive comments.
-Summer Programs-Update
Watermania had 25 participants
Mystery Camp had 14 participants
Adult Ball League has wrapped up with no complaints everything ran smooth.
-Sportsplex Committee Report
No meeting lately. Waiting for Steve Ford to meet to discuss the beams
-Canteen Position
We need to start thinking about this now.
-Arena Caretaker Posting
Post this position right after Family Day.
-NEORA Conference-September 10-14
Cindy unable to attend. Clerk to see if Brenda is able to go.
-Sylvan Valley Hall Grant
Both references have been contacted about the grant.
-Tower Lake
Still having garbage problems. Bicycles doing jumps into the lake.
Park is in good shape this year.
-Family Day-August 25th
1-3:30. Looking for volunteers
-Soap Box Derby-August 24th
Line up is at 6:45 race begins at 7:00. Derby is co-sponsored this year by Child Care Algoma.
Horticulture Flower Show and Luncheon is taking place on Thursday at the Echo Bay Hall.
c) Fire Chief
-Fire Ban Restrictions
Fire Ban is still on. Council discussed why the MNR has not put a Fire Ban on but a number of municipalities have. Fire Chief explained that the MNR prefer that the municipalities do it so they do not get so much hassle.
-Update on Pumper
Door and sliders have come in. Door to be adjusted.
-Auto Extrication Tools
Code 4 has the Auto extrication tools on sale that we were hoping to purchase with a grant that we applied to the Legion for. Fire Chief asked if

we could buy them now while the sale is on and just amend the paperwork after the grant is approved. Clerk to look into the details of the grant.
-Update on Training
Everyone is trained in Auto Ex... First Aid and CPR training is completed.
-Mutual Aid Meeting

Clerk received costing for just water. Meeting to be set up to discuss further.

6. Delegations
8:00 p.m. Terry Ross-Robert’s Bridge/McCarrel Lake Road
Terry Ross reiterated his concerns over safety. Feels the road is safer with the one lane bridge that it would be replace with 2 lanes due to increased speeds. Council stated they would address this by reducing the speed and a possible 4 way stop and Watson Rd and McCarrel Lake Rd. Intersection. Still would like to see the bridge saved due to its Heritage. Council stated that it is unsafe and needs to be replaced. Mr. Ross will not be seeking a bump up to the Environmental Assessment but would like to be kept abreast at all steps in this project.
Mr. Meating is most concerned about the curve in McCarrell Lake Rd. Council stated that that project has not been approved for completion and will be looked at closer when they decide to do it.

Part 1 of their project north of Soo has been completed. Hwy 638 corridor is next on their list. Firstly Cell Phone coverage is priority then they will work on high speed internet but only in actual communities. Echo Bay already has it. WHEREAS we have experienced a significant increase in our overall levies arising from the Algoma District Administration Board (ADSAB);
AND WHEREAS a significant portion of this increase is due solely to a rise in ODSP costs;
AND WHEREAS these costs are under the direct control and administration of the Province of Ontario;
AND WHEREAS the municipalities of the East Algoma District have no input into the administration and expenditures of the ODSP’
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Province of Ontario upload the entire costs of the administration and payment of benefits for the ODSP.

12. Mayor & Councillors Comments
Councillor Robbins discussed a possible hook up for sewer on Hurley St into the manhole in order to develop a lot on Hurley St. Council does not see a problem. To be discussed further when the property owner comes to Council with final plans.
Councillor Mason received complaints in regard to 4-wheelers on Hwy 638 as well as property in the Valley. Neighbors have come to an understanding.
Clerk also received a complaint on Monday Aug. 20 in regard to this concern and stated she would bring it to Council’s attention.
Request for a culvert on corner of Lake St. and The Drive be repaired a little.
Councillor Orchard commented that our roads are in rough shape and he has received numerous complaints about the dust and the roads conditions. WE need to seriously look at this. It has been a dry summer and that makes it difficult but maybe we have to do more surface treatment.
