Holly

From Holly's Mom:

"Our Baby girl Holly has done so good for our family!

I have a mood disorder and Holly takes me out of it ... she just looks at me and kisses me ... I feel this happy feeling again!! She is the best thing that has happened to me, she is my cure.

As for my kids, I have a little boy, and when he gets near the stairs, Holly moves in front of him. She has done this many times before ... she is truly a family dog ... MY HOLLY!!"

Princess

From the Murray Family:

"We adopted Princess from the Humane Society a couple of weeks ago. She is the perfect dog. All she wants is to be near you; she loves to just lie at your feet. She is excellent with my toddler and somehow knows that she has to be gentle with him. Princess already knows how to go outside, sit, and is absolutely perfect off leash.

I am so glad we were able to include her in our family. Now she just has to learn that our three cats are not her own personal toys, hahaha."

Fonzie aka Gromit

The Happy Tale of Gromit (now Fonzie)

"The day after we had to have our beloved Daisy Dawg euthanized due to her cancer, Bob asked me if I had seen "Gromit" on the website. He was very lonely as Daisy was such an integral part of his daily routine. He was touched by Gromit's story and so I said "Let's go." Up to the HS we went; he fell in love at first sight and within the hour we were back home.

Gromit is now "FONZIE". He has settled in well. He rejected his bed on the floor and slept curled up at Bob's side - after licking his face and head as a goodnight kiss! He walks well on the leash without pulling - despite being an energetic 9 year old!

Porkchop the cat is not quite sure about this new resident but at least is not hissing - just sitting up on a shelf watching Fonzie investigate the house!

Bob has a new buddy to care for and keep him company. Nothing can replace Daisy but Fonzie fits the bill as a furry friend to love."

Karen and Bob Grant

Gromit was a previous shelter resident almost a year ago when his first long-time owner passed away. He lost the only home he had ever known. Gromit was then adopted as a companion for an elderly gentleman and happily left shelter life behind. Suddenly, he found himself back at the shelter looking for a new home when his second master recently passed away. Gromit has kept his lively spirit throughout these ordeals in his little dog life.

Copper and Jakko

Following is an update from Copper's New Family:

"Copper seems to think that any toys in the house are his. If his big brother Jakko has something, Copper wants it, too. Typical child, eh?

He seems to be settling in alright, had some issues the first night when we put him in his crate (boy can he throw tantrums), but he seems better now. I think at first he thought that everytime I left his sight, I was leaving for good. Now he realizes that I am still around somewhere and seems to be settling down a lot quicker - still bites a lot, but that will pass, I hope. (I already have a hole in my finger from his teeth, he got a good one that time). He seems to be getting along alright with Jakko. Jakko wasn't too sure about him at first, but he is tolerating him now. Jakko is also putting him in his place. Now Jakko will snarl/snap (without biting him) and Copper will lay down. Then Jakko runs away crying like a suck. I guess they'll determine between themselves who the leader is. Anyway, I will probably send another update in a few weeks when everything is back to normal (a routine set and whatnot). We'll be fine once he learns that not everything (and everybody) in the house is his to chew.

Jakko is eight years old, and is a typical older brother. He likes to play sometimes, but when he's finished, boy oh boy, Copper gets told. But at night, when Copper is in his crate, Jakko is out there everytime that puppy makes a noise... I think he's checking to make sure everything is alright (or maybe he's hoping he'll disappear hahah)."

Naiomi, Flurry and Jessie

"My husband and I adopted our three cats, Naiomi, Jessie and Flurry back in November, December of 2003. We all live happily together in Vancouver, BC now.

They get along very well with each other, and accept the new cats that we foster through an animal shelter that I volunteer at in the city. We kept all their original names because we felt they suited them nicely.

Flurry is quite good at parlor tricks that we have taken the time to teach him. Jessie enjoys going for walks on her leash and Naiomi wakes Daddy up each day by standing on his chest and purring.

We just wanted to say thank you again for all the help that was put forward by the society when we decided to take home all three at the same time. We couldn't be happier! Thanks for completing our family!"

Sincerely,
Caitlin and Andrew Walker
