Jetty aka Blue and Maggie Jiggs

Story posted June 30, 2008

Note: Sadly, Jetty's owner wrote in to say that Jetty passed away suddenly from a massive stroke on the same day this story was posted. She asked that her story remain posted since it brings her great comfort to read it. She was a wonderful dog and her owner is heartbroken without her. Jetty was her best friend. She hopes that someday she will be ready to welcome another wonderful dog into her home. Life’s just not the same without one.

Hello!

I met Jetty (aka Blue) at the Humane Society Fundraiser walk in September 2006. At that time she was up for adoption and was being showcased by a volunteer. I fell in love with her instantly. She impressed me with her gentle nature and I just knew she would make an excellent pet. I have never regretted adopting Jetty. She is a wonderful dog and has brought me immense happiness and companionship. She is truly an example of ‘woman’s best friend’.

I adopted Maggie Jiggs in November of 2007. She fit into home life perfectly. It was as though she had always been with our family. Jiggs is a very loveable little cat and always very entertaining. Whether it be snuggling on the couch to watch a movie or playing with whatever she can get her little paws on, Jiggs brings warmth and laughter into the room. I consider Jiggs to be a friend and family member and love her dearly.

Sincerely

Amanda Morettin

Davy Jones, now known as Chester

"Hi, my name is Chester and I just wanted to let you all know how things are in my life these days.
A short while ago I wasn't too sure what life had in store for me? That's all changed now after Dad came to rescue me. I've got my own couch, my own mat beside his bed and a huge country yard to run in. He gives me the best of food, lots of treats and throws sticks almost as fast as I can chase em'. When I came home with the old man, I was just a 45lb. runt, but as you can see, I'm not a runt anymore. At last count I weighed in at 86lbs.
For amusement, I usually wait until Dad sits down in his chair, then go stand at the door to be let out. If he falls asleep in the chair, I'll sneak over and give him a "nose nudge", just to let him know that I'm here and looking after things while he rests. It's usually at this point he asks me if I'm due for my shots?
Well, I gotta go now. I think there's a squirrel that's invaded my yard. All the best from Chester!"

Bailey aka Trixie

"Hi, my name is Jennifer Moore and me and my family adopted Trixie (now named Bailey) on January 12, 2008. We absolutely love and adore her and love spoiling her to death. I wanted to add our story to that of the adoption stories on the website so people can know that she went to a good loving home. She gets plenty to eat and a lot of exercise. She even comes with us to our camp on St. Joseph's Island where she gets to go and sniff, swim, play with other dogs, get spoiled by the dog lovers though everyone down there just loves her. She has come a long way in training and has turned out to be a really great dog and friend whom we love and adore. Attached are some recent pictures of Bailey that you can put up on the website. I also want to encourage people to adopt animals even if they are not purebreeds from a breeder all the dogs that I have had have come from the humane society and have all turned out to be loving companions. I would like to thank the humane society for giving us such a great addition to our family."

Tucker aka Hunter

"I adopted Hunter now known as Tucker last February when he was 10 months old. He was a bit scared at first, but eventually came around and now he is very social. He is the smartest cat I have ever seen. He comes when I call his name, plays fetch, and can jump 4 feet into the air to catch his toys. He loves to cuddle and follows me everywhere around the house. I am very happy that I adopted him!"
Thanks,
Dana

Sugar aka Blue

Hello! My name is Carly and back in December of 2006 I made the best decision of my life by adopting a young pup with the name Blue. She was a Christmas present from my beloved boyfriend Jeff and I have cherished her ever since. Though, a few hours of first having her we soon realized that Blue was not the appropriate name for her, for she was nothing near blue. She is now named Sugar, for her active personality and sweetness. Below is an updated picture of her. She is now 1 year and 7 months.

Sara aka Lita

We adopted our dog Sara aka Lita February 5 and she has adjusted very well so far. She gets along great with our other Standard Poodle, Sophie, despite a bit of jealousy. We are very grateful to have found such a wonderful dog, and she has been a real joy to us. As soon as she got here, she moved right in, and she has already claimed the recliner in our living room as her own. She greets us at the door when we return home, and it's like she's been here all along.

Thank you for giving us the opportunity to add such a wonderful dog to our family.

Thank you,
The Buchans [Brenda, Tim, Breanna and Micheal]

PS: Here are some pictures of Sara, as well as one of her and Sophie [trying to make them both sit side by side was a total failure, haha]

Casey aka Cujo

"I adopted Casey, then called Cujo from the Humane Society back in September 2006. Just wanted to let you all know he's going great. When I first got him he was having issues with men and he was a scared and timid dog. Now he's doing great, we just started agility and he's taken to it like a pro. He enjoys playing with my brother's two dogs. He's a good boy and my best friend. Just wanted to let you all know. I have attached some pictures of him for you to see. He was 12 weeks old when I adopted him."
Thanks
Heather

Omar

"Hi, we just wanted to send in an update on the pup we adopted in June. He has brought so much joy to our life and he is getting big. He is full of energy. I would like to thank the HS for the great pup. By the way, we kept his name as Omar. He also won pet of the week on soonews.ca in July!!!"

Thanks,
Chris and Samantha
Here are a few pictures

Omar is from the same litter as Maddie aka Ona
shown in the July-Dec07 Pet Stories.
You can see them all eating together at chow time.
