Jasmine

"This is an update on Jasmine who I adopted through the Humane Society in 2006 as a puppy. She is a wonderful dog who has turned my world around in a great way! As you can tell her favourite game is Frisbee which she is very good at. She plays hard, yet as you can tell from these pictures she also relaxes very well. I just want to let you know that you do a wonderful job at the Humane Society and it is a great place to adopt a pet!" ... Linda Bassanello

Christian, Satine, and Nala

"Hi, my name is Andrea MacArthur and we have had only wonderful experiences with the Sault Ste. Marie Humane Society.

My husband and I were married in May '08 and I've always had pets so to me a house is not a home without at least a cat. So the day after we arrived back from our honeymoon we adopted two cats, Korky and Peony who are now Christian and Satine. They love each other and keep one another company. Christian loves to play fetch with plastic mice and Satine loves to climb up onto my shoulder and fall asleep.
My husband is more of a dog person and I've always wanted a dog but he wanted a big dog. I'm not a big person and one of the dogs we took out to see knocked me right over, so we decided a medium size dog would be best. After a few times of looking a lady there suggested we look at this "quiet dog, with a sweet personality". We saw her when we looked but didn't think anything of her. She was just sitting there quietly, no barking or anything. When we took her out to meet her she was so kind, just wagging her tail, happy to have some attention.
Then Callie, now Nala, it's been a year since we've had her (Feb '09). What a pleasure it has been. Although some of my shoes haven't survived we have learned that as long as she has her own space when we're not home she doesn't seem to mind. But she loves when we are home, always wagging her tail and happy to be out of her room. Kissing everyone she loves to let you know she is happy to meet you. Too bad Satine and Christian weren't exactly excited to meet Nala, but they eventually adjusted and learned to put up with her.
What would life be without my animal farm I do not know. Our bed is a little crowded but I love waking up to kitties meowing and doggie sprawled out in the middle of the bed, hogging all the covers!" ... Sincerely, Andrea

Cora aka Kitty

"Here's a picture of Cora laying in her chair. Mom calls her Kitty and she's a talker, great company for her, loves her so much. She steals straws from her water glass and you can find all over the house. She is one happy cat."... Aria Myllyla

Logan

"Hi, my family adopted Logan on January 24th. He is very engergetic, and only sleeps when there's no one to play with. He greets everyone and anyone at the door, always wagging his tail. He loves to play, especially Tug of War, and will often just run from room to room in a burst of energy. He loves his walks, and needs to sniff EVERYTHING along the way. As soon as you pull out his harness, he's right there, ready to go. He's already part of the family, and we can't imagine life without him now." ... Janet

Charley aka Chong

"Hi, My wife and I adopted Chong Thursday, January 7, 2010. We have renamed her Charley. She is doing very well, is a great dog, and we can leave her at home for the work day and come home to no messes, just a few hairs on our bed. She is great with the leash for walks."... Stu

Snowball aka Tai'ku (Tai)

"Hi there, I've been meaning to share an update of a kitten I adopted Christmas season of last year (2008). The shelter was calling him Snowball, and I immediately fell in love with him just seeing his picture. Upon arriving at the shelter, I was informed that he was very sick, and tiny, and that he had had a rough start at life and they weren't sure if he was even going to make it through. I was unable to see him at that time and the shelter told me to call back with an update the following week. The vet saw little Snowball and he was put on antibiotics for 10 days.. during that time, I came to see him and he was indeed sick, and so frail. I called again towards the end of his medication and I was happy to hear that he was improving and I was given a date to come pick him up.

When I picked him up, I brought a video camera and we have him on tape, coming out of the back room, looking like a wonderful, healthy kitten. I could tell by the car ride on the way home that he was a happy and brave little guy, as he was curiously looking out the window purring the whole way home. When I put him down in his new home, he looked around for a moment, then took off with a burst of kitten energy and excitedly pranced from room to room, immediatly settling into his new home. I couldn't believe that only a couple of weeks ago, he had been on death's doorstep. The shelter did an excellent job at nursing him to good health and now today he continues to bring joy and laughter into my home everyday! We named him Tai'ku (Tai) for short, and the shelter had informed me that he was a Flame Point Siamese, and when I first got him, he was all white, other then his blues eyes and his cream coloured ears and tail. His colours have come out beautifully over the past 13 months that I've had him, with creamy orange stripes framing his little face, and orange patches along his back, although he is still relatively white, and I luv those blue eyes.

He has a couple of older 'brothers' who accepted him graciously and took him under their wings, and he is the baby of the family, and reminds them of it daily! He luvs to be cuddled, and knows when it's bedtime and is there on my bed waiting for me each night. Such a wonderful addition to our family! Thankyou."... Patti

Here is a photo of Tai being snuggled by his littermate Patches at the shelter.
