Update May 24, 2005 Donations that were processed through the Sault Ste. Marie Humane Society, Ontario, Canada, whose driver picked up the ailing pup first, have been reported to be $1565.00 For the month of April 2005. Update May 5, 2005 Allie has now settled into her new home at the Rolling Dog Ranch Animal Sanctuary in Montana. Tilley Road Animal Hospital (Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada) employees raised the funds to get her to the sanctuary. Alayne, one of the team members who runs the sanctuary writes: "Allie is doing just great and is fitting in with all the dogs here. Everyone, especially the miniature dachshund has learned to keep a safe distance in case she accidentally flops over on them. |

She loves playing with Birdie, our lab with muscular dystrophy and Holly another dog here. They have a great time. And she can really get around both indoors and outside. You can see her joy in joining in with everyone. It is like she is thrilled to be “running” with the big dogs. When she goes into her crate she loves to flop down on her teddy bear and then she pulls it up to her and rests her chin on it. When it’s feeding time, she hears the can of dog food opening and it’s “Katie, bar the door” because here she comes, all excited and happy. She is just too cute for words. Thanks to you all she has been given that wonderful gift to live her life and be all that she be. Like we say about all our animals here is they may be disabled but they are not handicapped and Allie shows that all throughout the day. |

Cerebellar Hypoplasia is a neurological condition in which the portion of the brain that controls motion is underdeveloped. Animals with this condition adapt to living with their uncoordinated movements. There is no pain or suffering and they live an otherwise regular healthy life. With a condition such as this, Allie is not a dog that would be put up for adoption. The staff at the Animal Clinic discovered the Montana sanctuary for the disabled. Animal Clinic Staff has had a fundraising campaign going for Allie, who required $400 in airfare as well as a special kennel. |
| Money continues to be raised to cover maintenance at the nonprofit sanctuary. Donations in Allie's name continue to be accepted at the Rolling Dog Ranch Animal Sanctuary. | |
