The City of Sault Ste. Marie by-law 98-211 requires that all dogs be registered by purchasing a city dog licence yearly. The deadline is March 31, 2010. You MUST present proof of Rabies shot.
If your dog is wearing a valid licence tag, the Sault Ste. Marie Humane Society will give them a free ride home the first time they're caught roaming. A dog licence is valid for one year. If your dog is caught roaming without a licence tag, the fine is $60.
Cost of Licence:
There is a surcharge of $10 after March 31. Proof of current rabies vaccine is required. Proof of spaying/neutering is required for the reduced fee. All dogs must be registered, no matter what time of year they were adopted.
